Hello/ Dia Duit
You found your way here because someone you love — or maybe you yourself — has been struggling with weight in a world that keeps offering the wrong solutions. Dr. Kennedy has spent over two decades figuring out why those solutions fail neurodiverse individuals, and building something better. This is his story, and it's the reason Hue Wellness exists.
About Dr. Kennedy
Dr. Russell Kennedy is a Doctor of Psychology, the CEO and Co-Founder of Hue Wellness, and one of the only clinicians in the country who has dedicated his career specifically to weight management for neurodiverse individuals. With a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from William James College and more than 20 years of experience in behavioral health and weight management, Dr. Kennedy brings a level of specialized expertise to this population that simply doesn't exist elsewhere.
His clinical work is rooted in evidence-based approaches — Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing — adapted and applied specifically to the behavioral and cognitive profiles of individuals with IDD, ASD, and PDD. He understands that behavior change for neurodiverse individuals requires more than willpower and a meal plan. It requires understanding how a person thinks, what motivates them, what gets in the way, and how to build routines that hold up in real life.
In 2019, Dr. Kennedy created Massachusetts's first weight management program specifically designed for neurodiverse individuals at Walden Behavioral Care — a program that achieved strong clinical outcomes and ultimately became the foundation for Hue Wellness. His research contributions include participation in the NIH-funded CALERIE Study at Tufts University, one of the most significant clinical trials in the field of caloric restriction and longevity. He has lectured nationally, contributed to peer-reviewed research, and was featured in the Netflix documentary Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead 2 — bringing the conversation about weight, health, and behavioral change to a mainstream audience.
At Hue Wellness, Dr. Kennedy works directly with clients and their support teams, providing behavioral health coaching and leading the clinical direction of the practice. His approach is warm, direct, and grounded in the belief that sustainable change happens when people feel genuinely understood — not judged, not rushed, and not handed a plan that was written for someone else.
